St. James has made a strong commitment to honor members of the LGBTQ+ community as beloved children of God, just as we would welcome anyone.

We believe that we are each called to live into the lives and the identities that God has given us. We have LGBTQ+ parishioners and staff who are active at St. James. Our former rector, Evan Fischer, was the first transgender priest in the Episcopal Church to lead the same parish before, during, and after his transition. We are active at Pride events and we host meetings for PRISM, the LGBTQ+ support group for Wayne County. We know that you may have been hurt by another Christian community and for that we are very sorry. Know that at St. James, you will be seen as God’s beloved.
