Visiting St. James From Another Episcopal Church

St. James is a small, but vibrant congregation with members of all ages and various backgrounds.  We are heavily involved in our local community and we pride ourselves on being welcoming to all.  Many of our outreach ministries are focused on issues of homelessness.

Many of us arrive a few minutes early to Sunday worship for quiet prayer and reflection.  We are lucky to have a talented musician, Jason Metheney, play an organ prelude prior to the start of the Sunday service.  We usually use the Book of Common Prayer and Hymnal 1982, but we sometimes use seasonal worship booklets and additional sources of service music to add variety and commemorate special seasons.  We love to sing and we welcome you to join the congregation and choir in song, regardless of your musical ability.

The organ postlude is definitely worth staying for as our organist loves to showcase his creativity! After the service has ended, you are welcome to join us for conversation and refreshments during Coffee Hour in St. Nicholas Hall.  Coffee Hour is an integral part of the Sunday experience at St. James.  It is an informal time during which we love to greet visitors and generally get to know one another.

Check our main page for current information about Sunday worship and other activities throughout the week.

Feel free to contact our Rector, Evan Fischer, to let us know that you will be visiting.
