Who is welcome at St. James?

Our Vestry recently adopted the following statement of inclusivity:

Saint James Episcopal Church is a community of people who have experienced God's expansive love in Jesus Christ. God welcomes everyone, and so do we: lesbian, bisexual, gay, straight, transgender, non-binary, cisgender, single, partnered, divorced, married; of whatever age, religious views, political orientation, ability, income, education, and racial, ethnic, or national identity. All are one in Jesus Christ; therefore, all are welcome here. YOU are welcome!

This statement cannot cover every possible variety of beliefs, individual identities, or expressions.  The goal is to let those who have traditionally been told by the Church that they are not welcome for who they are and who they love that they are welcome here. It is the aspiration to welcome all who seek to worship and serve God in a faith community.
